Baptism

/ˈbapˌtizəm/ noun

Matthew 28:19

“So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

Everyone is welcome to participate in the missions and ministries of the church! Yet God is calling us into a deeper relationship with him baptism, confirmation, and a Profession of Faith are ways we answer that call.

Baptism

Baptism in the United Methodist Church is a baptism by the Holy Spirit, through baptism we believe that we are saying yes to Christ as our Lord and Savior. By saying yes to Christ we are given the power of the Holy Spirit to guide our lives. Baptisms are part of worship because just as the parents or individual being baptized are making a pledge before God, the community of faith is promising to help them keep that pledge. Those who are baptized become a part of the church.

Confirmation

Youth who have been baptized as infants have the opportunity to explore what it means to believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. After taking the classes they have the opportunity to confirm the vows taken by their parents when they were baptized.

Professions of Faith

Adults becoming part of the faith community will make a profession of faith if they have already been baptized in another United Methodist Church or Christian Denomination, and are ready to respond to God’s call to be actively engaged in their growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ as a part of this congregation.
